So what of the Republican presidential candidates in 2012?

Enter Sarah Palin, who topped a recent Gallup poll with a 76 percent favorable rating for possible Republican presidential contenders. Trailing her were former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal – in that order.

Many political observers believe that while Ms. Palin is a significant force in Republican politics, particularly with the women she labels “Mama Grizzlies,” she is unlikely to win the presidency.

But with voters in a restless mood, and current politics in a mercurial phase, who can rule out for certain a 2012 presidential campaign pitting Clinton against Palin?

Her speeches generally draw cheers, but Sarah Palin earned jeers for a recent speech in California — from reporters.

Several journalists were caught on an open mic mocking the ex-Alaska governor following her remarks at California State University, Stanislaus, in Turlock last week.

“I feel like I just got off a roller coaster, going round and round,” one reporter is heard saying on audio captured by Fox40 News. “S— flying out everywhere.”

“She didn’t finish a statement,” another reporter says.

“Did she make a statement?” another asks, drawing laughs.

“I don’t know how we’re gonna make a story out of that,” a voice is heard saying.

“Now I know that dumbness doesn’t come from just sound bites,” yet another reporter says.

Chris Matthews: Is Sarah Palin The New Richard Nixon? | Mediaite

Before you jump to panicked conclusions, Matthews was not comparing Sarah Palin to President Nixon. He was comparing her to former Vice President, defeated presidential candidate Richard Nixon who spent the intervening years between losing to John F. Kennedy in 1960 and his 1968 campaign relentlessly touring the world, denying his presidential ambitions, all the while quietly (and ingeniously) setting the stage for a presidential run.

This latest comparison from Matthews, who is always a sucker for a good historical analogy, came as he attempted to put into context the 12 months Palin has spent since resigning (“she quit!”) from office. In hindsight it’s hard to argue it was a bad decision on her part.

If she’s not interested in mainstream politics, why does a person of the right, which she is, carefully select mainstream candidates when she knows there going to win…because she wants a connection.

Responded panel guest Dan Rather:

“She’s not running now for president but I wouldn’t underestimate her…She’s played an almost perfect hand. If she wants to stay a power in the party, make a lot of money and not run, she can do that. I wouldn’t underestimate her for 2012, even for a second. If she decides to run it’d be hard to be against her.”

“Hard” might be overstating matters slightly since if Palin actually were to throw her hat in the 2012 ring presumably she’d have to interact with the press outside of her Facebook, nonetheless, interesting that Rather thinks her such a strong candidate. In fact it was Rather’s remarks that prompted Matthews to ask whether Palin is a Nixon. The panel consensus, meanwhile, was no. Watch below.

Trig is a press release topic, stage prop, and a tool for bashing bloggers and Hollywood media. Tripp is a “consequence,” a cautionary tale that has spawned a TV appearance by his mom, and a tool of irony to get back at his father for going on TV. The custody battle itslef is a reality show wrapped in Court TV wrapped in a soap opera.The poor nation is doomed. Lets face it. We have no choice. Its like driving along the highway minding your own business and seeing something on the highway median – Look, its dancing dogs, and prancing ponies in spangles with women in bikinis standing on top, and shirtless men lifting giant weights, and a ferris wheel, and exotic creatures with stripes and spots, and a woman juggling bowling balls and hack saws, and fireworks and clowns riding around in small cars, and banjos and balloons, and guys swallowing swords and fire, and having someone in the back seat saying “Dont look!”The reality is that as long as the Palins continue to wear rainbow wigs and ride around in small cars, and take their shirts off, and juggle power tools, America will keep watching.And after a couple seasons of “The Palins” when its all starting to get a little predictable, fear not. No man could have bailed on his governorship to find himself in national news continually, with supporters growing daily, while orchestrating it all from a Facebook page, and putting so much fear into the DNC that they put out an oppo memo on her, even though she’s not running for anything (until 2012, that is).

Former Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin finished a razor-thin second to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on the Gallup poll’s list of most admired women for 2009, while conservative talk show host Glenn Beck landed at No. 4 among the top 10 among men.

Clinton edged Palin 16 percent to 15 percent, which means they ranked first or second among those polled. This marked the 14th time the former first lady has won the distinction of most admired woman in America in the poll.

Sarah Palin: She was seen from the very beginning as a rising star — a cultural awakener similar to Andrew Jackson — bringing a whole new cultural paradigm to the political process; a new heartland spirit of individualism and self reliance as per Emerson and Barry Goldwater. The widespread, deep and immediate hysteria in the MSM was a sure indication that she was a threat to the old temple and would be a vital new force in the rising century. This week the non-partisan Research 2000, which conducts research and focus groups, states simply, “Palin will be the 2012 GOP Nominee.”

I thank God for Sarah Palin. She is the only politician who gets it. Man was put on this earth to burn stuff.

In the beginning, Adam & Eve breathed pure sulpher. Then Eve disobeyed God’s will, ate the forbidden fruit, and caught a cold. The resulting microbes, multiplied and started pumping oxygen into the atmosphere, which in turn killed off everything that was alive at the time. Oxygen, my friends, is the Devil’s element. The only way we can purify the earth is by binding these demonic atoms with carbon. We need to burn everything man, the rainforests, the oceans, the polar bears, and most importantly, the stupid rock worshipping liberals who created this mess to begin with.

The Humble Beginnings of The Sarah Palin Admiration society

It all started one day when Josiah Frumpacker (me) was flying his hot air balloon above the rugged terrain of Alaska. Traveling as a modest pace, he looked below and saw what appeared to be something that stood out as exception to the daily experiences of a North Western balloonist. “It was a sign.” recalls Josiah thinking to himself. “Sarah Palin’s likeness has been implanted unto the earth.”

That is where and when Josiah Frumpacker resolved to institute Sarah Palin in the form of an admiration society. Not so fast! “Slow going,” Doesn’t even begin to describe how things developed in the nascent stages of this burgeoning organization. “At first I was the only member of our humble group,” recalls Josiah in his memoirs. “It was not easy, because nobody wants to be the first person to be the second person in an organization without big time media support and institutional funding. (Like ours didn’t have.) But the turning point came when I met Anita Mandelay at the Big Beaver Lick Baptist Church.

She was a splitting image of Sarah and we immediately connected over Sarah Palin’s aura in politics and religion and I decided to make Anita the official greeter. That was the turning point in our turnaround. Suddenly our humble organization started getting bigger and bigger. It was a miracle. Will historians one day look back and call our organization the reason for Sarah Palin’s metoric rise to fame and stardom? If so, I believe all the credit goes to Anita Mandalay, at least until she dumped us and me for “them.” Until then she had been the catalyst for expanding our membership from nothing to even more than nothing. We believe that all this is the foreplay of God’s will acting through the impersonation of Sarah Palin and her personage.
